I described this website as being inspired by nature - how magnificent and restoring it is. I am also inspired & fed by the greatest piece of literature to ever be written, the Bible and will often quote it in my journal posts. 

​

It would be poetic to state here that I am 'an English Rose' since my heritage is English and my home is currently right in the heart of a very beautiful location in the Surrey Hills. This would not be entirely true however and I need to add that I am more of  'an African swallow,' flitting between continents.

​

I sign my name GiuliA when I am feeling like I need to connect with the original way of spelling my name which is Italian. I emphasise the large A which for me represents the large portion of my life lived in Africa & America & also my love for mountains hence A = the Alps.

​

This website was originally an idea to push myself to write one journal entry a week about the unfolding seasons in the countryside around me. Now more than 100  posts later I have stopped writing. Few people have the desire to read a lengthy article. 

​

But for posterity I left these journal posts online. I have talked about my Christian faith at length. There are posts on travel, the seasonal cycle of living in the English countryside. Love and death.

​

​  If you enjoy my writing and would like to read more, I wrote a book about a very unusual season I spent in South West Africa which was about to become Namibia. I spent my gap year living in a country swarming with hundreds of UN soldiers. I watched the country hold its first  elections and took part in the Independence celebrations which featured Ziggy Marley (son of Bob Marley) and Colonel Gaddafi. It was an incredible time to be there. I even managed to get myself thrown into prison for a few hours under the suspicion that I was a spy!
