Here are a few of my favourites from Goodwood race course. Next weekend is the end of season August Bank holiday event which is a throw back to the 1950's with a fairground and fireworks. Lord March and his team know how to throw a good party. ( https://www.goodwood.com/sports/horseracing/ ) He goes to no expense to make the day fun and brings in extras to create the atmosphere of an English bank holiday in the sunshine. There is a small cricket match, deckchairs and glamorous ladies wearing bathing costumes and heels. ( Ironically the one above having to cover up as it was wet and cold! )
On the opening Friday the races end with music and a huge firework display.
Last year we watched the fireworks from a hill over looking the race track. Kindly Lord March had provided speakers for those of us who were on the outside and hadn't even paid to enter the racetrack.
The year before we went in and had fun on the fairground ride and watched Maria and the Von Trapp children from the Sound of Music sing their way around the grounds.
