' Lord, I had such a good time & I don't regret anything.' Franz Wright

This last Saturday I should have been out enjoying the display of Autumn colour. Wading through forests of orange and gold. Outside the trees were perfectly poised. The countryside was wearing her final cloak of glory before she undresses for winter.
But on Saturday it rained and it rained and it never stopped. Added to that we had recently been informed of an increase in Covid levels. Hence a deep dark winter appeared to be looming on the horizon with restrictions returning - forcing those of us that live alone back into the solitude and loneliness of isolation.
It was enough to make anyone depressed.
I was suffering with cabin fever but decided to embrace my creativity and celebrate this new season as an act of defiance.
There was nothing for it but a warm lunch, a glass of wine and some jazz on the sound system. I dressed up & joined in the joy filled notes that were bouncing off my walls - pretending that my cello was a double bass and we were playing in a smokey bar down in New Orleans.
I took the screen shots from a short video I made - hence the feeling of movement in the photos as I spun my cello like a dance partner.
This line of poetry by Franz Wright from "Kyrie" Wheeling Motel 2009 perfectly describes my afternoon.
' Lord, I had such a good time & I don't regret anything.'
